Should I be concern..

Good Morning beautiful people….

If you are following my blog you know I have twin boys, they are eight years old. The older of the boys is Jaheim, he a minute older and for him it’s a big deal; whenever he makes a mistake or does something he knows I won’t be proud of he lies about it. It does not matter how simple the matter is. I spoke with him on several occasions about this matter; I’ve explained to him how important it is to tell me the truth. Yes, there are consequences when he makes the wrong choices, but when he the lies about it, it aggravates me. He loves to play his video game and tablets so I will always take that away from him, I don’t think that working much.

  1. I recommend you ask why he lies? Perhaps he’s doing it to get attention and consequences are irrelevant.

When mine was little, he did stuff like that too. I would be upset and my mom would always say he’s just a kid. well how long can you say that? now he’s 28 almost 29 years old and on rare occasion he will still make an excuse. Life has taught him lessons and he has grown out of most of it. Thank goodness for that.

I think you’ve already received some excellent advice, so I really don’t have anything to add other than I agree with the notion that as he ages he will relinquish the unwanted behavior. And to be most positive…lying, telling untruths, fictions, takes a great deal of imagination. It may be you have a budding novelist on your hands…a great one!

    Hi Shelly:
I’ve raised two and I can tell you that it’s not unusual for children his age to either lie or minimize when they’ve done something wrong.
Whenever my children did something similar, I’d tell them that it’s okay to make mistakes and to get things wrong; just own up to it.
Make sure your tone is loving and not accusatory and he will soon get the point!
Trust, he’ll move through this stage before you know it 🙂

Also, be easier on yourself 😉
As mothers, we’re all doing the best we can 🌹

You had a great point, not only applicable to kids but to adults also .. The choices be right or wrong, let us not lie upon that
